Kidney theft: Court remand, Noah Kekere, 2 others

The Plateau State High Court, presided over by Justice D.G Fombing, has Friday remanded into the Jos Correctional Center, Mr Noah Kekere and two others, alleged for harvesting the kidney of Mrs. 
Kehinde Kamaru, at Murna Hospital and Clinic, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suit No PL/H164/2023, Criminals, between the People of Plateau State against Noah Kekere, Dr Philip Dewe Dachung and Yusuf Abduallahi, which came up for mention, has four count change, against the accused

The suit prosecutor, Barr. David Williams, director of public prosecution, Plateau State ministry of justice, had withdrawn previous charges and subtituted them with new ones.

"That you Noah Kekere, Dr. Philip Dewe Dachung, and Yusuf Abduallahi, of Murna Hospital and Clinic Jos North Local Government Area..., commit wit: Criminal conspiracy, on the 26/01/2018, contrary to section 58 and punishable under section 59 of the Plateau State panel code law 2017, that you conspired amongst yourselves and fraudulently attempted to commit culpable homicide and causing graveous hurts by endangering the life of others, when you removed the right kidney of Kehinde Kamaru, without consent in the guise of performing operation to remove a raptured appendicitis..."

 Count two reads, culpable homicide, punishable under section 198 (1), of the Plateau State panel code law 2017, when the accused harvested the right kidney of Kehinde Kamaru without consent.

The count three is accusing the defendants, of causing graveous hurts by endangering the life of others, when they harvested the right kidney of Kehinde Kamaru without consent.

The defendants were also accused of, dealing in human parts, when they harvested the right kidney of Kehinde Kamaru, without consent, also involved in human parts trafficking and selling of human organs.

Having heard the charges as read, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Their counsel, Barr. Samuel Shaka, informed the court of their pending application seeking for bail, however, prosecution counsel David Williams, opposed to the application.

Justice Fombing, having taken the plea of the suspects, also reserved ruling on the bail application, and there after slated 18 and 19 January for hearing of the substantive suit.

He ordered for the remand of the accused at the Jos Correctional Center.
