Screening of Constables: Hon. Adamu Aliyu, protests rejection of his Hausa, Fulani applicants

The member representing Jos North -North Constituency, in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, has protested against non acceptance of Hausa and Fulani, tribal extractions, of Jos North Local Government Area, in the ongoing police recruitment exercise, just as he appealed to the Police Service Commission, to intervene.

Hon. Aliyu made the protest at the State headquarters of Nigeria Police Force, where talked with the Police Pubic Relations Officer (PPRO) of command, after observing the exercise.

"I have observed with keen interest, and have found open discrimination and denial of fundamental rights of my people."

"I came here, to observed how the screening exercise is been done, and I have found that my people are being rejected; the attestation letters issued by the executive chairman of Jos North Local Government Council and others by the former transition committee secretary, are being rejected," he said.

According to Hon Aliyu, the reasons for the rejection is what must be made known to him, adding that the law of the country did not permits such discrimination.

"I wanted seeing the screening committee but I wasn't allowed to, all I know is that thier (applicants) attestation letters are genuine, and as thier representative I cannot seat back to see them been denied or rejected," he added.

Hon Aliyu said all lawful steps will be taken by him, to ensure that those eligible youths wanting to join the police, to help the nation's security are given the lawful chance to do that.

"I am appealing to the Police Service Commission to do all that is lawfully necessary at ensuring that my people are not short changed, even in a federal government institution.

"Again, I am emphasizing, that the police serve commission and the inspector general of, to know that if by the time the list of those shortlisted is out, and we discovered that the names of our people are missing, we will not accept," he said.
