Mangu crises: Aid group seeks humanitarian support to Muslim victims

  By Fatima Muhammad  The Plateau State chapter, Nigeria Aid group of Jama'atu Nasril Islam, NIG-JNI, has called on Nigerians to lend their humanitarian support to victims of the Mangu Local Government Area, attacks. The first aid group, in a signed statement, by its Secretary, Barr Lawal Ishaq, said the appeal became necessary considering the worsening situation at which Muslims have found themselves in the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps, which are in dire need of humanitarian support. "Following the unfortunate crisis that our Muslim brothers and sisters found themselves in Mangu town between 23rd and 24th of January 2024, which led to the killing of some and displacement or over 900 people mostly women and children and now in two emergency IDP camps created in Mangu town, and after due assessment by this organization of the camp setting and how it is being run with little or no assistance from any government at all levels, there is an urgent need to assist them....

Jos community, applauds Hon. Adamu Aliyu, for citing primary school

The leadership of the Racecourse Development Association, chaired by Abdulrahman Usman, and flanked by the constituents said, despite their densely population the community is left without a single primary school for their children and other indigents pupils to attend. Screening of Constables: Hon. Adamu Aliyu, protests rejection of his Hausa, Fulani applicants

Adamu Aliyu, has protested against non acceptance of Hausa and Fulani, tribal extractions, of Jos North Local Government Area, in the ongoing police recruitment exercise, just as he appealed to the Police Service Commission, to intervene. Hon. Aliyu made the protest at the State headquarters of Nigeria Police Force, where talked with the Police Pubic Relations Officer (PPRO) of command, after observing the exercise. "I have observed with keen interest, and have found open discrimination and denial of fundamental rights of my people." Court of Appeal, gives fair hearing, Dr. Nentawe tells Supreme Court

  By Muhammad Tanko Shittu The All Progressives Congress (APC), Plateau State gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged the Supreme Court, to dismiss Governor Caleb Mutfwang's averment that the Court of Appeal has denied him fair hearing. Dr. Nentawe also averred that his contention was about "qualification/sponsorship," of Gov Mutfwang, and urged the Supreme Court to so hold that the PDP lacked the capacity to sponsor any candidate to contest the 2023 general election. Dr.  Yilwatda made the urge in his response to the grounds of appeal by Mutfwang, billed for adoption before the Supreme Court, Tuesday. Bokkos: JNI condemn killings, urge for peace

 By Fatima Muhammad - Jos  Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI) Plateau State council, has said that it is condemnable in totality the resurgence of violence in Bokkos, Mangu and Barkin ladi LGAs in the state. The condemnation was made Tuesday, by the JNI State secretary, Dr Salim Musa, in Jos. "It is unfortunate that this cycle of violence is resurfacing after many spirited efforts by all relevant stakeholders including the government," it said. The JNI said it extend their condolences to the families of the victims, people of the affected LGA's, and the state. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured victims. "We call on the communities to take the lead in nurturing and sustaining their peace. An enforced peace is no peace at all," it said. 22 herdsmen killed, 130 houses burnt - MACBAN

 By Fatima Muhammad - Jos The Miyyety Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has lamented the killings of 22 of herders, with more than 130 hamlets destroyed in villages within Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. Making its position in a signed statement, by the MACBAN State chairman, Muhammad Nuru Abdullah, said the, "ugly incident," first happened around Mushere and Bokkos districts of the LGA, on Sunday. "What baffled us is that, security personnel were leading the operation. This we describe as security brutality which is totally unacceptable. The fulani in general are oppress and stretch beyond elasticity. "The whole problem started as a result of cattle rustling, where 3 rearers were killed and 181 cows were attempted rustling on 23/12/2023 (Saturday) but it fail. CAN condemn killings, urge Tinubu to direct relocation of service chiefs

 By Fatima Muhammad  Jos The Plateau State chapter, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, to direct for the relocation of all service chiefs to the trouble areas of Bokkos, Mangu and Barkin Ladi LGAs, of Plateau State. The call was made by the CAN chapter chairman, Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, at a press briefing, held at the Secretariat of NUJ, Tuesday, in Jos. "We condemned the killings in total. Where more than 150 people have been killed and the killing is still going on as a spilled over from the herders/farmers clashes.
